Tips on "Escaping the Prison of PTSD " ...
Here is the RAP 132 tool referred to on our program.
It could possibly help you determine if you or someone you love needs pastoral or additional medical help. Dr. Andrew J. Weaver, a pastoral care therapist, came up with this assessment tool.
SIGNS OF PTSD
(RAP 1-3-2)
“Re-experiencing”: If you have a re-experiencing episode, it might occur while walking through a Wal-Mart and you diving for cover at a loud bang, or when driving you suddenly jerk the car to the shoulder and, breaking into a cold sweat, begin looking for insurgents. Either of these behaviors could indicate a physical manifestation of re-experiencing.
Avoidance: This can be problematic if you demonstrate three or more incidents of avoidance. Examples of this type of behavior would be avoiding people’s company, and staying away from the things you once loved. If you tend to do these sorts of things three times or more, then seeing a trained counselor or clinician might benefit you.
Physical hypo-arousals features: These features can manifest themselves as night sweats, extreme sleep difficulty, and even as exaggerated security issues where the individual might patrol the perimeter of his our her house, making sure everything is locked.
